Born in Johnstown, PA, Dr. Edwin Bracken, Jr. has made Bedford, PA his home since 1998. Dr. Bracken attended Delaware Valley University, where he focused his studies on Large Animal Science and Pre-Veterinary Medicine, earning his B.S. in Animal Science. He went on to complete his veterinary training and earn his VMD in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. As head veterinarian and owner of Bracken Ridge Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Bracken is dedicated to providing the level of professional care you demand for your beloved animals.

In addition to his formal training, Dr. Bracken continues to be on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine, keeping his staff up-to-date on advances in the field and his veterinary hospital outfitted with the latest diagnostic, imaging, and therapeutic equipment. He has passionately pursued private educational opportunities locally, as well as throughout the nation and around the world, expanding his knowledge and skill in the fields of bovine, equine, small ruminant, exotic, and general veterinary medical science.
Dedicated to Promoting the Health of All Animals
For more than 21 years, Dr. Bracken has dedicated his life to practicing animal medicine. In 1999, he opened his private large animal and livestock clinical and ambulatory care practice in Bedford, PA. Seeing a need for quality, compassionate care for domestic companion and exotic animals, he expanded his practice in 2012 to provide exceptional, comprehensive care for this locally underserved population, as well. In January of 2020, Dr. Bracken opened the doors to serve his patients with his newly constructed state-of-the-art animal hospital, where he continues to offer both routine and emergency in-house and ambulatory care for all animal species.

Dr. Bracken is very active in several organizations that promote the health, safety, security and overall well-being of his animal patients, as well as the community he loves. Locally, he is an ardent supporter of Humane Societies throughout south-central Pennsylvania. At the professional level, Dr. Bracken is honored to be a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, and the American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners.
When not exploring additional opportunities to apply the latest innovative care and comfort modalities for his patients, Dr. Bracken enjoys spending time outdoors, admiring and photographing wildlife and nature, supporting the Constitutional rights of his fellow citizens, and listening to music, especially classic country, folk, old time, and blues.
